Freedom...what does that mean to me? It means time to do the things I love, time to spend with the people I love. It also means freedom from the 9 to 5 rat race and freedom from relying on grocery stores, large corporations like National Grid and Walmart. How do I get there? Where do I start? That is what this blog is about. The small steps, the set backs and the triumphs in my journey to personal freedom.
If I can accomplish these goals then I will also have time and resources to help the organizations that I believe in, things like...Environmental Preservation Agencies (like Five Rivers Center in Delmar, NY) and farming and helping my local economy and community.

So, to begin I start with starting up a cleaning service (Chantelle's Green Cleaning Service) that only uses 'green' products. Products I've made myself in fact. Could I market them? Hmmm....maybe. That would be another sort of income to help me quit the rat race. I will also plant a large garden with heirloom seeds. Why? Because then I can put up enough veggies to feed my family for the year (well, that's the goal anyway) and then I'd be relying less on places like Walmart. Heirloom seeds because only those seeds can I harvest and replant to grow the exact same tomato or corn etc. as I had last year. These are my first steps to take, the ones I can do NOW and so I begin.

I write about this to perhaps help someone else who want freedom (at least my definition of it) and to help me stay on track, get all the ideas out there on paper...commit to it so I don't get lazy :)
